One of the most important aspects of what we have
to offer is a local trans community. We have various options for socialization, including meetings,
meet-ups, community dinners, watch parties, and
"trans takeovers" of outings to various places in
the greater Carbondale area.Drop by for one of our routinely scheduled meetings
at the Gaia House or join in a community event,
and experience the joy of a queer-forward space.
Lavender House
An exciting aspect of our available resources include Lavender House, which provides free access to various resources such as gender affirming clothing and shoes, jewelry,
condoms, Narcan, morning after pills,
COVID tests, and more!
Resource Sharing
Together, D.I.T.O. members have decades of lived experience as trans people. Consequently we're likely to have insight in trans-friendly local businesses and healthcare providers, and
general tricks and tips for social transition and gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT).
Mutual Aid
As a tight-knit community, we do our best to ensure that all group members have their needs met. Some examples of that include ride-sharing, community gardening, help navigating the name and gender marker change process, and limited surgery recovery support.
